Steptoe
Valley Flyer Heritage Train
For
the fourth year,
the Nevada Northern Railway is going to be firing up its time
machine four times and you're invited to take a trip on the Steptoe
Valley Flyer. From 1910 until 1941, steam locomotive
40, Railway Post Office/baggage car 20 and first class coach 5
traveled from East Ely to Cobre, Nevada. This will be your chance
to experience what it was like to travel the high desert back
in time close to a hundred years ago. Passengers for this train
are encouraged to wear period dress anywhere from 1910 to 1941.
The
Steptoe
Valley Flyer pulls out of East Ely only four times
in 2007. The Flyer is scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays May
17, June 14, July
19, and August 23. Join us
for a trip back through time when the public traveled by train
as did the mail. Reservations are suggested; seating is limited.
All passengers will receive a commemorative letter postmarked
in the Railway Post Office during their trip. Prices are: Adults
$42; Children (4-12) $25; Children under age 4 ride free. Call
the museum toll free at 1-866-40STEAM (or 775-289-2085) or order
online.
BBQ
Trains
Come hungry for a real western BBQ. The
meat has been slow cooking all day over mountain mahogany coals
in a BBQ designed as replica of locomotive 40 . The meal includes
finger licking ribs, beans, baked potato, coleslaw, and a freshly
baked roll. Beverages include your choice of ice tea, water, or
soda. Beer or wine is extra. Adults $46; Children (4-12) $25;
Children under age 4 ride free.
7:00
pm on four selected Saturday evenings: May
31, June 28, July 5, Aug. 9 and Sept. 6. Call
the museum toll free at 1-866-40STEAM (or 775-289-2085) or order

The
Chocolate Express
Marking
its second year in 2008, the Chocolate Express departs from the
East Ely station on four Saturday evenings: June
21, July 26, and August
30 at 7:00pm.
Join
us as we head up the hill to watch sunset and enjoy chocolate.
Some people don't just "like" chocolatethey are
absolutely, completely, enamored with and addicted to this food,
like no other substance on earth. Quite simply, chocolate makes
them feel good. They put a piece of it in their mouth, close their
eyes, and slowly swoon into euphoria as the sweet, gooey stuff
spreads warmly over their taste buds, caressing their tongue with
sensual texture and deep, rich flavor. It is no accident that
the Latin name for cocoa (Theobroma cacao), from which
chocolates are made, translates as "food of the gods."
Beverages include your choice of ice tea, water, or soda. Beer,
wine, or champagne is extra.
"Research
tells us that 14 out of any 10 individuals like chocolate."
